Technology 16-17

For use in 2017 Student Fee Survey!

The Technology Fee directly supports the Office of Information Technology and helps to fund its student-based technology initiatives and pay employees. The Technology Fee is only partially supported by Student Fees and supplemented by state funding which helps to cover the operating costs of the department. This fee primarily serves to pay for academic licensing and software such as Peoplesoft, as well as purchase computers and Audio-Visual equipment for classrooms and labs. In addition the fee also covers the cost of the Wireless Infrastructure around campus and the IT support center which is open to all students and staff.

The Office of Information Technology plans to use the fee increase to cover the cost of its increased operating costs such as software licensing and equipment maintenance. The fee will also allow the department to hire more student workers and provide an increase in pay rate. This fee will also cover the cost of adding increased functionality to the Peoplesoft Degree Audit and new analytics tools. The Technology Fee will also allow an increase in remote access to campus software and computing resources from any location. These increases mean that students will have more access to academic software and services remotely, and potentially no longer needing to purchase them individually.

For full-time undergraduates: The fee is currently $302 per year and there is a proposed $8 per year (2.6%) increase. This will make the total fee $310 per year.

For part-time students: The fee is currently $15 per credit hour and there is a proposed $0 per credit hour (0.0%) increase. This will make the total fee $15 per credit hour.

For graduate students: The fee is currently $14 per credit hour and there is a proposed $1 per credit hour (7.1%) increase. This will make the total fee $15 per credit hour.
