Technology 18-19

For use in 2019 Student Fee Survey!

The Technology Fee supports many of the technological aspects of UMBC, including Wi-Fi infrastructure, the IT support center, AudioVisual upgrades in classrooms, and PeopleSoft.

The Technology Fee supports the licensing and maintenance for PeopleSoft, computer workstation upgrades, the increasing cost of academic software students need, WiFi infrastructure, AudioVisual upgrades in classrooms, and the IT support center. Some notes: PeopleSoft is the software the university uses to manage finances, human resources, class scheduling, and other things. Licensing for software requires contracts that generally run a number of years. Built into these contracts is a gradual increase in payment for continued services. Costs surrounding internet bandwidth increases are contained in this fee.

For full-time undergraduates: The fee is currently $318 per year and there is a proposed $10 per year (3.1%) increase. This will make the total fee $328 per year.

For part-time students: The fee is currently $16 per credit hour and there is a proposed $1 per credit hour (6.3%) increase. This will make the total fee $17 per credit hour.

For graduate students: The fee is currently $15 per credit hour and there is a proposed $1 per credit hour (6.7%) increase. This will make the total fee $16 per credit hour.
